eeeeek

what a great day...

to install...

which is exactly what the david household did. although, it looks horrible outside...it looks like we might escape the rain and hail, but with 70+ degrees..and 60 mph winds it looks like a recipe for tornadoes. stay safe KY and TN friends. we were going to head to lexington this afternoon, but we have decided to postpone the trip till late this evening. hopefully, leaving later will put us behind this nasty storm.

nevermind..rain and hail arrived. ok. im out. see yall monday. happy weekend!

weekend recap

oh there you are ;) ok..i left yall hanging, but i have returned with lots of happenings. this past weekend my dad drove through on a business trip, and spent the night with us. it is funny to hear how much my parents [who see hudson about once a month] say how much he has grown. since we see him everyday it is harder for us to notice.  he was impressed that hudson is a roll over pro and has crazy good head control. he even can sit up with out assistance for a short while [this is a brand new trick].

i remember thinking before kids when i would hear parents talk about mile stones...ZZzzzzz...blah.
but now i get it. it is so crazy that they just wake up and decide to to something new. it is amazing.

what else is amazing... the cracktastic pasta that i made for dinner on saturday. try it. easy. yuengling didn't hurt

we also started sleep training mainly because his naps during the day were so inconsistent. he would want to be rocked, nurse, walked ect. which was and still is so cute, but lil hud is getting pretty heavy for momma..so we decided better break habits now [for the both of us]. we used the controlled time crying technique and it has really worked. now he plays/self soothes himself to sleep during nap times, and is taking much longer more restful naps. he also now likes to sleep on his tummy.

i can check off a few things on the list:

  1. shelves project - update...i have measured and drawn up plans..now just construction left
  2. build bench...legs purchased just have to find wood
  3. cut down rug/buy new rug
  4. frame artwork - check
  5. restore tables [coffee table + occasional table] - check

here is the finished product of the occasional table. i decided after sanding to paint the table instead of re-staining. i would have had to re-stain the table close to the original stain [very close to the floor color] and i wanted more contrast..not finished being staged [imagine those gold frames hanging above]. it is a blue/green number..custom mixed valspar paint. i love it.

and at last here is my pretty little coffee table that was saved at a local flea market. she rests in my keeping room which ill be talking about soon on this blog. here she is also on a popular home decorating magazine cover..all she needed was a little brasso and tarn-x

this is a in progress picture. i need to get a picture of the final product, but will just have to leave that for the keeping room posts.

happy tuesday! hudson is off to gigi and pop's [mr. b's parents] & we are going out with some friends..dirty martini please. extra dirty

friday spy

for anyone. anyone who is in need of a table. i am trying to convince myself and mr. b that we do..please snatch this gem up. she adds major texture and contrast with the juxtaposition of the glass and wood plus all around coolness to any space. if you are looking to break out of the matchy matchy set of living room furniture that you might have inherited or that you bought real quick once you got your first job..this would be your ticket. plus look how affordable she is..compared to retail prices. and you can use a shipping carrier like uship to get her delivered.

retail $1365.00 kingston driftwood cocktail table

craigslist atl $250.00!! go.now.get.her

if you have access to the right supplies + great wood [which we do up here in KY...so i might try to build my own] you could get crafty and make a one of a kind... wallis, a friend from high school is on this very mission herself. check her blog out.

have a great weekend friends

getting busy

things that need doing. go

alright..i figure if i share my project 'to do' list..i might be held accountable to get some things finished around here. so i spent the morning taking photos of some areas that need some attention while these two assisted rested.
after making my list i had a bit of a panic attack! really that long! so did the mr. b...all he thought was $$$$. i don't blame him because we do have important things to be thinking of like student loans, rental home upcoming costs, surgery bills, ect. to make it less daunting for the both of us i decided to do a top 5, and then when it is completed ill start another. hope it works. i plan to share my progress with you as i check them off the list. so here they are...now time to get busy.

the list:
  1. shelves project... new solution to this post
  2. build bench...legs purchased just have to find wood
  3. cut down rug/buy new rug
  4. frame artwork..samples have been ordered
  5. restore tables [coffee table + occasional table]

so today we are starting to plan [it takes some math] the shelves for the living room, and i'm headed to lowes to buy the materials i will need to refinish this occasional table. which is on the calendar to be completed this weekend.

before pictures

i got this table for $30.00 [much better then the $300.00 price at most retail stores], and although the original plan was to paint it i have decided to strip the piece and restore the wood. we will see how it goes. the table will stay in this awkward corner at the top of our stairwell then over it and down the staircase we are going to create a family picture wall with old photos [pictures of everyone..grandparents..parents..siblings] in their 20's-30's of everyone in both b and my family in gold frames. hopefully will look something like this..source unknown

although seeing this photo makes me want to paint the table orange...humm.
glad to almost be over that hump friends!

play day

well the day got away from us! i spent most of the day cleaning like a mad woman [like deep spring cleaning] i tend to do this once a month. starts out as just a quick vacuum and turns into toothbrush and bleach to our window seals kind of clean.  the rest of the day was full of snuggling, playing, and loving on the lil dude.

also..4 months is great
