our top 10 part 1

scan baby scan..this is a long post..you have been warned :)

now that hud is almost 4 months and things are definitely starting to develop and change. i thought it would be good to post our top 10 must have items for these first three months.

registering for baby items was fun!
except we got in a wreck in my brand new!..yes brand new [i had never had a new car before..so it stung] suv on the way back. i choose this car because of it's safety ratings and it did us so well in this five car pile up! [we were the second car to be hit by a moving truck] plus being 20 weeks pregnant was very scary. i was taken to the hospital in an ambulance. it was cold.

a lot of people talk about how overwhelming it is and i can see why.  now, i did a horrible job at registering for wedding items, but enjoyed the baby stuff.

you must know that i am not an over researcher [my mom is]. i casually skim blogs, websites, books, ect. but i tend to not be OCD about anything..so instead of compiling an organized list and spending hours and hours at the baby store. i just signed up at babies r us online [i chose to register at just one store to make it easy, and it was accessible to everyone] one night and started adding items to the registry as i ran across them over time. most of the items were discovered from chatting with friends, blogs i follow [luckily for me it turned out 4 or more of them were expecting as well..so maybe i am just a research thief..ha]. now, i started doing this list barely into my second trimester so it gave me plenty of time to fine tune and edit it before hudson's showers.

we were so so so blessed. i can't even tell you how amazingly gracious our friends and family were to lil hud. we have absolutely used everything we received, and besides diapers and wipes we haven't had to buy anything else. our people rock.

so here is our top 10 musts that got us through all or at least an important part of this lil guys newborn/current infant stage

[0-4 months]
1.  puj tub
it is soft, it hangs flat to dry on your door, it cradles your oh so small and delicate infant perfectly. hudson was a huge fan of this from day one. i said i would be real on this blog so many times during the first few weeks giving hud a bath in this would help him with gas/and relax enough to use the bathroom. life saver. cranky babies are sad

2.  my little lamb cradle and swing
mom saver. there were times. nap. bedtime. whenever. where this was the only thing that could get lil man to sleep or allow me to take a shower. now it is pricey, but worth it. the seat sits up or reclines flat and it cradles them in a soft bundle of goodness, it can swing two different directions [side to side or front to back] there is music and a moving mobile. jackpot. we have had no issues with it being battery operated. at first we thought it went kind of fast, but turns out that is what they like. a lot.

3. bright starts start your senses activity mat
ours has a light up/song attachment and this was hudson's first toy that he would examine and now bats and talks to. we have used this mat from the early weeks and are still getting great use out of it daily.

4. fisher-price playtime bouncer - luv u zoo
most bouncers will do the trick. hud loves the animals and now knows how to pull the lever to make the music play, and the vibrating option is awesome..puts him right out. he also enjoys watching us work in the kitchen or eat dinner while sitting in his bouncer. put it on your list. go

5. aden and anais swaddle blankets
get them. they are on everyones list because they are that good. i sometimes use them to cover up during feedings because they are very breathable so he doesn't get hot.

6. summer infant rest assured sleeper
see post here

7. bath products
i hate perfume. or any strong scent. it gives me a headache. a bad one. i don't wear it. if you wear a lot of it i prob. won't hang around you for long.
so i am not a big fan of johnson and johnson products
these are our favorites
     a. summer infant bather
this is what we are using now for bath time
     b. baby aquaphor is made by eucerin [a company i have liked for years] we use the wash and shampoo
and the healing ointment [to prevent diaper rash..success so far!]
     c. aveeno makes a two versions of a scentless lotion that we use..burt's bees isn't bad either

8. gap first favorites
my baby is hot. no really he sweats! not sure where he got that from because mr. b and i aren't that way. i could sit in a sauna for hours and not sweat..ok that might be an exaggeration. so layering lots of clothes is out of the question with this lil one, and i am glad. i am definitely a fan of dressing babies..like babies. comfortable. easy. comfortable. sweet. not like little men. they have the rest of their lives to wear jeans/cords/men shirts/ect. only a year or less to be dressed like a baby. i didn't realize this until i purchased some of his clothes pre-arrival, but now i know my personal preference. these are wonderful they run true to size. are so soft. and light enough so he doesn't overheat.

9.  wimmer ferguson stim-mobile
my mr. b laughed at me when this arrived in the mail. he since then has apologized and realized i knew what i was doing. although i wish this mobile had a battery operated turning mechanism..which we were planning on rigging ourselves [very do able] everything else is perfect. it has shapes, lines, objects. in contrasting black and whites, colors. babies love this stuff. he will look at other mobiles for maybe a few minutes...but this one has his attention for 30+minutes [enter time to shower. bathe. do laundry. clean. read. blog...get my drift]..i even took it on a road trip to texas with us when he was 8 weeks old..worked like a charm in the car.

10. hobo lauren double frame clutch
i hate not carrying my purses anymore, but with a baby, carrier, diaper bag...carrying a purse is just to much. purses are sort of my thing i like to collect. i'm picky very picky. i appreciate great craftsmanship and quality along with patina and color. so this little gem is my mommy favorite. it holds all my cards, cash, lipgloss, powder, iphone, change, gum, ect. i can quickly transfer it from purse to purse [or more realistically the diaper bag these days].it opens easily with one hand which is a big help.

now..this is part one because there are a lot of toys and items coming up that he will be able to use in the coming months once he masters his hands, sitting up, ect.

i have not forgotten about the photo challenge. i took the photos, but didn't have time to post them. so tomorrow will be a catch up day.

chat soon!
